“Bridezillas” producer and September Films executive Jeff Collins is launching reality production company Collins Avenue, partnering with British-based studio ContentFilm.
ContentFilm and its TV distribution arm, Fireworks International, will fund Collins Avenue in exchange for an equity stake and the right to distribute Mr. Collins’ projects internationally. The parties have signed a five-year partnership agreement.
“After a decade of running shows and companies for other people, it's time I take the reins,” Mr. Collins said. “The access (ContentFilm and Fireworks) provide to international markets is unsurpassed and these guys move very fast; I like that. They share my vision and agree that now is the time to invest and grow.”
ContentFilm, via Fireworks, owns and controls a library of content totaling more than 3,000 hours, including the original Fireworks library and the CBC library. Fireworks also represents the Harmony Gold library.
“As we are building the nonfiction side of Fireworks International, the opportunity to invest and join Jeff in starting his company presented a wonderful opportunity,” said John Schmidt, ContentFilm’s chief executive officer. “As Jeff launches new productions we look forward to working with him on international sales and co-productions, and we will help him build his new business in any way we can.”
Mr. Collins most recently oversaw the U.S. office of September Films and served as showrunner for three seasons of WE’s “Bridezillas.” He also produced the just-premiered A&E series “The Exterminators,” as well as VH1’s “I Know My Kid’s a Star,” Lifetime’s “How Clean Is Your House” and The WB’s “Survival of the Richest.”
Mr. Collins launched his career as a staffer on “Entertainment Tonight.” He is represented by APA.
